What is DMAIC in Lean Six Sigma?

DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. It is a logical approach used in Lean Six Sigma project to solve problems and an ideal way to structure a process improvement project. 

Definition of DMAIC

Define 

Define the problem and get approval to continue the project.

Measure

Measure the process so that you have a baseline of the current state.

Analyse

Analyse the process along with the data collected and identify possible root causes.

Improve

Improve the process by developing and testing solutions in a controlled environment.

Control

Control the roll-out of the best solution, ensure it is embedded in the organisations processes and close the project.
